Since it was established, Novasoft has been linked to innovation with the strong belief that “there are no mature markets if we know how to innovate”. Innovation is a distinguishing key factor in our organisation, a distinguishing mark and part of our business culture.
Since 1996 the I+D+I activity has been receiving the support of different official agencies; it follows several objectives:
> Technological Development and Innovation: development and production of new products and the development of the existing ones. IFA, Technical Research Promotion Programme (PROFIT), CDTI Technology and Industry Development Centre, Industry Technology Promotion Programme, within the ATYCA initiative.
> Incorporation of I+D+i personnel. Torres Quevedo Programme for the incorporation of Doctors and Technologists in Technology Companies and Centres. Consultants’ Guided Services Programme for the Business Management (STAGE), included within the Innovation and Technology Leading Plan (PLADIT 2001-2003).
During 2003 and 2004 Novasoft has maintained the same working practice, consolidating the developments of Java and promoting its mobility using PDAs and/or wireless links, and polarising its activity in the following working areas:
New functional modules for the e-SIAP applications (Primary Care Information System) and NovaHIS (Hospital Information System).
> New Java developments.
> Development of a new concept of an innovative Information system known as x-SIA: Extensible Assistant Information System. Within the I+D+i strategy, it is necessary to establish a co-operation with University Organisations to set up joint research teams. Since 2000 Novasoft has been closely working alongside the BET group (Bioengineering, Electronics and Telemedicine), the Medical Computing area of the Computing University School of the Technical University in Valencia and alongside the University of Malaga. Following this co-operation approach there are several projects to be highlighted:
1. Applied Research Project: “Development of a system to incorporate distributed medical registers based on the prestandar of computerised medical history architecture CEN7TC251 ENV-13606 under CORBA”, reference ITC2000-0706.
2. Applied Research Project: “Advanced System in the Heart Pathologies Diagnosis. Technical College of Valencia. April 2000. Novasoft has also participated at different levels in European projects:
> SecureUbiNet: Collaborating in the SecureUbiNet consortium (Secure Ubiquitous Network Environments) comprised of European industry and academic partners from five different countries, Siemens AG, Telefonica I+D+i or the University Carlos III of Madrid.
> IASIS: Participation in the IASIS Project (Intelligent Authentication and Authorisation Services for Healthcare Information Systems), part of the sixth European programme for the Technology Research and Development.
